The Life-Daan JV Diagnostic Kit For HCV Genotyping is an sequencing base assay for determining the genotype(s) of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in plasma and serum from HCV-infected individuals. This kit is not for screening blood, plasma serum or tissue donors for HCV, or to be used as a diagnostic test to confirm the presence of HCV infection.

The Life-Daan JV Diagnostic Kit For HCV Genotyping detects subtypes 1b, 2a, 3a, 3b, and 6a, it targets the core/E1 region, which of more than 400bp length. Due to the structure of the vial genome, the virus is genetically very unstable and mutates rapidly. This means that the virus can quickly become resistant to anit-viral agents making treatment more difficult. In addition, with rapid mutation making an effective vaccine will also be a challenge.

【Why Test】

Recent studies have suggested that a person's HCV subtype (or subtypes) may influence their possible response to interferon, or interferon-ribavirin combination treatment. Worldwide trials are being conducted which will soon shed more light on this belief.

  • Low–input DNA protocol (20 ng), compatible with serum or plasma samples
  • Technology: Sanger Sequencing
  • Test results for research use only, cannot be taken as the basis of clinical diagnosis.

【How It Works】

  • Amplification of codon315 of core and E1 region of HCV RNA;
  • Gene sequencing with 3500Dx and 3500Dx XL Genetic Analyzer of purified products;
  • Computer analysis to determine genotype of HCV RNA.
